Why Give?

Giving to Cowichan Women Against Violence Society is an act of care — for women, children, and families, and for the community we are all part of.

Every day, people in the Cowichan Valley reach out to CWAVS during moments of crisis, transition, and healing. They come seeking safety, dignity, and the chance to begin again. Your generosity makes it possible for us to meet them with compassion rather than barriers, and with support rather than judgment.

When you give, you help ensure that:

Women and children fleeing violence have access to safe shelter and stable housing

Survivors can receive trauma-informed counselling and advocacy, regardless of income

Children are supported to heal from violence and grow up safer

Prevention and accountability programs strengthen families and reduce harm

Indigenous women, children, and families are met with culturally safe, community-rooted care

Your support allows us to respond in real time — providing food, transportation, rent support, counselling, and advocacy when it matters most. It also allows us to plan for the future: to build programs that are sustainable, culturally responsive, and shaped by the voices of those most impacted.

This work is not done alone. It is done in relationship — with survivors, Elders, partners, staff, volunteers, and donors who believe that everyone deserves to live free from violence.

Together, we are creating a Cowichan Valley where people can live with safety, dignity, and hope.
