Winter Shelter Opening and Donations

We would like to express our appreciation to Cowichan Family Life Thrift Store @ 531 Canada Avenue and to Thrift Town @ 1059 Canada Avenue Duncan, who have partnered with us to move forward with outfitting this shelter and who continue to support us.  Please continue to drop off any unwanted items to Thrift Town and Cowichan Family Life, and please rest assured that our clients continue to benefit from your donations to both of these organizations.

Doyle, if you go to the Home page on this site and click on Shelter Raising Event, then scroll down. You’ll see a list of what has been donated and what is still needed.

It was great to see so lots of community members at the new shelter today (December 14) working to get it ready for the women who will stay there this winter. Volunteers were sorting clothing and bedding, scrubbing cupboards, walls, shelves, counters and floors, filling holes in the drywall, cleaning the bathroom, accepting and sorting donations, etc. The shelter is quickly coming together. Thanks CWAVS for spearheading this great community effort.

Our Rotary Club can help with moving stuff and perhaps supplying with some items. It would be good to have a list of specific items needed.
