Holding Your Own In Relationship

Cowichan Women Against Violence Society's STV Counselling and our specialized victim services program offers weekly drop-in educational workshops for women.  Holding Your Own in Relationship (HYO) is a twelve-week program offered four times a year.

HYO is suitable for women where relationship threats, conflict, abuse and/or violence are present from a current or an ex-partner. In a confidential group environment with a focus on solutions, we explore the power and control behaviours that can lead to violations of our personal safety in intimate partner relationships. Participants learn how to identify these patterns of behaviour and to address the vulnerabilities violence perpetuates to our safety. Topics include:

  • How Women Resist Abuse
  • Impact of Abuse
  • Islolation
  • Manipulation
  • Impact on Parenting
  • Staying or Leaving

...and more!

HYO is offered Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 at CWAV Society's community office located at #103-255 Ingram Street. There is no cost and women may choose to attend any or all of the sessions throughout the 12 weeks.

The Holding Your Own in Relationship support group is funded through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
