Aniko Martin – Director

DSCF1018.JPGAniko is enrolled part-time with Thompson Rivers Open University working towards becoming a social worker.  She has a passion for non-violent communication and enjoys taking classes in compassionate communicating.

Aniko has volunteered with the Exchange Club in Canton, Michigan, a service club with a national project aiming to prevent child abuse.  There she gained experience in fundraising and an increased understanding of the support families and communities need to cope with life’s stressors.  She has also volunteered as Secretary with the Cairnsmore Neighborhood Working Group – a group of committed neighbours that get together monthly to exchange any comments or concerns, while working towards making it a more cohesive and safe neighborhood.  There she has gained experience grant writing and event planning.

Aniko’s interests include working out and she is a Crossfit and Jazzercise enthusiast.  She spends her free time reading non-fiction and creating memories with her family. 

Aniko has been a CWAVS board member since 2011. She served as secretary until June 2015. She initially joined the board because she wanted to have a greater role in reducing violence in society, and gain experience in the field she plans to work in eventually.  Aniko is Chair of the Social Action Committee.
